Esther Porter bags are designed and handmade in England from meticulously-sourced materials.  Each bag is individually made, the old-fashioned way, in an East London leathercraft workshop ten minutes’ cycle from our design studio.  Using the artisan techniques of hand cutting, weaving and machining that have otherwise been lost in the mass production line, each bag is a modern reworking of a classic bag design.

Responsibly and honestly-made materials lend each bag integrity and durability.  In the women’s collection, buttery-soft, vegetable-tanned leather from Tuscany develops a beautiful worn-in patina individual to each bag.  Traditionally-milled, British waxed cotton contrasts texturally with the leather and enhances water resistance.  We then add British-sourced solid brass and nickel fittings that won’t warp to reinforce stress points.  Meanwhile, reclaimed tent fabric leftover from summer music festivals combined with British manufactured bonded hopsack cotton create muted, tonal colour combinations in the collection of reworked classic bags that form the men’s TENT collection.

Esther Porter collections are inspired by the life around us; charming pockets of urban-rural life.  We focus on the blending of modernity and artisan heritage, harking back to retro classics.  Esther Porter bags are simply constructed, hand-crafted and designed for urban adventures.
